#hiringfriday 02.16.24 - geriatric millennial edition

Happy #hiringfriday from a millennial who is feeling her age. A couple weeks ago I went for my first mammogram. While I’m not yet an age beginning with a 4, it was time for a baseline scan. And not shockingly, it was an uncomfortable experience.

As I sat there in my pink gown, I had the inevitable thought that if men had to get mammograms, they would have figured out a technique beyond the smush a while ago. And while I have yet to see a pitch for a new mammogram machine (if you hear one, call me), there is encouraging news in the world of women’s health. Companies like Nurx, Midi, Visana and others are making care more accessible. I’m also particularly excited about the launch of the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research this past fall. Hopefully this will advance the development of new therapies and approaches to women’s health considerations. I’m also hoping it provides a model for more inclusive research for other groups that have historically been underrepresented in clinical research.

On a different note, one of the things I’m seeing in the market right now is the return of funded Seed Stage startups, many of whom are hiring. If you are interested in early stage companies, this is a good time to be having those conversations.  I’ve changed up the format this month to highlight companies new to the list, including many of these newer opportunities.
